Actress Manisha Koirala, who hails from the royal family of Nepal, made her debut in Hindi cinema in 1991 with the film Saudagar. Then after working in cinema for more than three decades, she entered the digital platform with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed web series Hiramandi released this year. Before entering the digital platform, many people around her had stopped her from working on this platform. She says, ‘It always happens that first people stop you from doing something new and later praise you. When I came to the film industry 30 years ago, the same thing happened to me. People used to ask why would you work in the film industry? It is an industry of bad people. In those days, only bad things were written about this industry. That’s why people from good families did not send their daughters to the film industry early. I have faced these things. Then after Saudagar and my other films came out, the same people who used to ask me questions about coming to the film industry started saying that wow, we are very proud of you. The same thing happened with me when I started on the digital platform. People have certain opinions about things before doing something new, something different, but later when they see good work, they appreciate it. I had no doubts about the digital platform. It was not just because of my favorite filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but I knew that the digital platform is a game changer.
There was no doubt: Manisha Koirala
