Ashutosh Gowariker will now become a sharp detective

The process of bringing real stories on screen continues. Now a web series is ready on the Manavat massacre that took place in the seventh decade of the last century. Manavat Murders will be available for streaming on Sony Liv from October 4. Between 1972 and 1974, many murders took place in Manavat Ganj of Maharashtra due to the search for a treasure and superstition. The series based on this has been directed by Ashish Bende, while actor and director Ashutosh Gowariker has played the role of CID officer Ramakant S Kulkarni in the show. Kulkarni is also called the Sherlock Holmes of India (the fictional detective of the stories of author Conan Doyle). Ashutosh says, ‘It is a matter of good fortune for me that I have been selected to play the character of Ramakant S Kulkarni. He was an officer in Bombay (now Mumbai) CID, about whom today’s audience should be told. He has solved many such cases, including the murders that took place in Manavat. His autobiography Footprints on the Sands of Crime gives a lot of information about his working methods. To prepare for my character, I also met Ramakant’s wife, his daughter Anita Bhogle and her husband Harsha Bhogle, ‘so that I could understand Ramakant’s character in depth. The information I got from them helped me a lot in preparing for this role.’ It is worth mentioning that the series is based on Ramakant S Kulkarni’s book Footprints on the Sands of Crime.
